Volunteer opportunities are available with Animal Services for individuals who would like to assist with a variety of duties at the shelter such as dog walking, grooming, adoption coordination, off-site events, fundraising, assistance with the website, gardening, clerical help, etc.
If you are interested in volunteering please plan to attend Volunteer Orientation. Please see below for the next Volunteer Orientation date. All Orientations will be held at the shelter. After learning more about the program at orientation, the next step is to complete an application form. Following a required background check and completion of any other necessary training depending on the nature of the volunteer work you would be doing, all volunteers will be responsible for purchasing a volunteer name badge and t-shirt at a cost of $14 for both. Volunteer aprons are also available, but optional, for an additional $12.
Volunteers must be 18 years old. We are sorry but no exceptions can be made to this policy for safety and liability reasons as Animal Services does not have prior behavior or medical information on most of the pets that enter the shelter.
For more information call (239) 533-9202. Thank you for your interest in helping the homeless pets of Lee County.
The next Volunteer Orientation will be held November 13, 2008 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Please RSVP to the Volunteer Coordinator at 533-9202.
